The Panton Chair is an iconic design of the 20th century. The importance of the Panton Chair is unquestionable in the history of design. It is the first chair to be made entirely of plastic, ergonomic while beautiful in form – a technically and aesthetically perfect object. According to designers, that is. I asked about this chair to people who didn’t work in the design industry nor had much interest. Some looked at it indifferently and said, ‘the design is familiar and the chair is quite pretty, but it looks like someone would fall back if they tried to sit on it.’
